Call for Papers

Our Call for Papers is now closed. Outcomes will be communicated to authors in late February.

The symposium welcomes submissions examining language acquisition and processing in bi-/multilingual populations, broadly defined across the lifespan, and research examining the role that bi/multilingualism plays in wider (neuro)cognition. Research is welcomed that examines language acquisition and processing in early and late bilinguals, L2 and Ln learners, in all domains of language (syntax, morphology, semantics, phonology, the lexicon, discourse/pragmatics, and their interfaces) and in language-related neurocognition. We welcome submissions that employ online techniques (e.g. self-paced reading or listening, eye-tracking, ERPs, neuroimaging) and offline methods.

Topics include but are not limited to:

  • Morphological, syntactic, phonetic, phonological, lexical acquisition and processing
  • Crosslinguistic influence in language production and comprehension
  • Language processing in attrition
  • Code-switching
  • L2/Ln acquisition and processing
  • Cognitive and neurocognitive consequences of bi-/multilingualism
  • Neuroscientific studies of bi-/multilingual acquisition and processing
  • Multimodal language and communication
  • Developmental and acquired language disorders
  • Implications of bi/multilingual language processing for teaching

Abstract Submissions: Closed to further submissions.

Abstract Submission Deadline: January 30th, 2026

Notification of Acceptance: February/March, 2026

Submission Guidelines: We accept abstracts for poster and/or oral presentation. Abstracts should be at most 500 words in length (with an additional 300 words for additional information, including references and/or examples etc.). Completed abstracts must be submitted by January 30th, 2026. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

We accept abstracts that report work in progress research, especially if it is pre-registered, as long as there is clear motivation for the study, a well-described methodology and clearly articulated expected outcomes. If accepted, we expect results to be presented at the conference. We do not accept abstracts where results will not be presented.
